Honor has been teasing the arrival of Honor X9a in Malaysia for the past few weeks. At last, it has confirmed its launch date. Honor Malaysia's official page states that the X9a will be unveiled on January 4, 2023, at 7PM (local time).

Reports have suggested that the Honor X9a will be a rebranded version of the Honor X40 that is already available in China. Honor X9a 5G  will be the third X9-branded phone in the Chinese market. Until now, the company has released the Honor X9 featuring the Snapdragon 680 SoC and the Honor X9 5G powered by the Snapdragon 695 chip.

The Honor X9a is expected to sport a 6.67-inch AMOLED curved-edge display with a centrally aligned punch-hole. It will support full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and up to 120Hz refresh rate. For security, it will come with an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The X9a will come equipped with Magic UI-based Android 12 OS. The Geekbench appearance of the device has revealed that it is likely to be equipped with the Snapdragon 695 chipset. It will come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The device will be lacking support for external storage.

For selfie, X9a will have an 8 megapixel camera. The round-shaped camera module at the back will house a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel macro snapper, and an LED flash. It will pack a 5,100mAh battery which supports 40W wired charging. At the moment, nothing has been said about the price of the device.

Previously, we reported that the HONOR X9a 5G would launch in Malaysia on January 4, 2023, at 7PM ET, however HONOR didn't reveal much about the device other than its "ultra-tough OLED curved display". Well, we may not have to wait till the launch event to know the specs of the X9a 5G as the full details of the device have been shared by HONOR on its official Middle East and Africa (MEA) website.

As per the website, the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC paired with 6 or 8GB of RAM that can be further expanded up to 5GB with HONOR's RAM Turbo feature. Storage-wise, the X9a 5G is offered in 128 or 256GB configuration. Further, the device houses a massive 5100mAh battery, which HONOR claims can last up to 2 days and supports 40W HONOR Supercharge. As for the screen, the X9a 5G sports a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED curved display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 aspect ratio, and supports 10-bit colors.

HONOR further revealed that the display of the device has a 45-degree "golden curvature" and a maximum brightness of 800 nits. In addition, the X9a adopts 0.65mm-deep reinforced glass for its anti-drop curved screen with an increased stress of over 900Mpa2. The company claims that according to rigorous lab tests, it can withstand most of life's bumps without any problems, whether being dropped, squeezed or impacted.

Moving on to the cameras, the X9a 5G packs a 64MP main + 5MP ultra-wide + 2MP depth triple-camera setup at its rear, while the front houses a 16MP selfie camera housed in the display's punch-hole cutout. Other notable specs include an under-display fingerprint scanner, Android 12 OS via Magic UI 6.1, dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.1, 175g weight, USB-C, NFC and color options of Titanium Silver, Emerald Green or Midnight Black .
